James Sheahan Catholic High School, NSW

James Sheahan Catholic High School has been supporting Dream Cricket in Orange for a number of years. Our students assist in running the activities for the students from our local Orange and district Primary Schools, with special needs. It is a tremendously rewarding experience for our students, building their empathy for students with special needs, developing their leadership skills, their commitment to the wider community, and being a personally uplifting and enjoyable day. The smiles and enthusiasm on the faces of our students in working with the Primary School students is affirmation and reinforcement of the power and impact of this wonderful initiative.

Our students gain as much from the day as the students they are helping and, of course, cricket as an iconic national sport, is a wonderful avenue to build positivity, team work, physical activity, achievement and sheer joy for the participating young Australians of all genders, colours and creeds. It is also a tribute to the Rotary Clubs of Orange, whose amazing volunteers make the annual day possible.
